Its Contest Time…Again!!!!!!!!!

Its official…we’ve just hit our 500^th “like” on Facebook….and we’re pretty excited about it…and we’re pretty sure this calls for a celebration…and we’re going to do so in the form of yet another fun contest!!  The Gecko Geek is super stoked to announce our “Say What?!?” caption contest!!  Grand Prize is…you guessed it kiddos…a FREE GECKO!!!!!!!!!

So here’s how this is going to work – Tomorrow (Monday, July 1^st) at 9am PST, we are going to post a photo to our timeline on Facebook.  Your challenge, my fellow gecko geeks, should you choose to accept, is to come up with a clever caption for that photo (example is posted at the bottom of this page)

Caption submissions should be sent to kimthegeckogeek@gmail.com to be considered.  Please type “Say What?!? Contest” in the subject line of your email.  Please do not post caption submissions on Facebook (there’s a reason for this which will be explained later). Only caption submissions received to the email address kimthegeckogeek@gmail.com will be entered into the contest.  Don’t forget to include your first & last name along with your submission.  Only one caption submission per contestant, please.  If we receive multiple caption submissions from a single contestant, only the first caption sent (determined using the date/time stamp on the email) will be considered.  Entries sent without contestant’s first and last name will be disqualified.

We know we tend to be a bit silly when we post captions for photos of our geckos…but ridiculousness is not a requirement.  The caption you submit may be goofy, sweet, sentimental, serious…really whatever you like.  We just ask that you keep it “clean”.  The Gecko Geek is a family-friendly website, and we would like to keep it that way.  For this reason, captions containing profanity or…uh…”adult” content will be immediately disqualified.  Your caption may be a sentence, paragraph, or just a single word….its entirely up to you.

We’re going to play this a little bit like all those reality singing competitions on t.v.  I am going to personally choose my top 10 caption submissions.  Those 10 captions will be posted on our Facebook Page.  Then its up to all of you to select the winner!  The caption with the most “likes” at the end of the contest will be declared the Grand Prize Winner, and will be awarded their choice of either a crested or gargoyle gecko baby (prize geckos to choose from are pictured below)!  Runner’s up will receive gift certificates to thegeckogeek.com!

The contest starts Monday, July 1^st at 9am Pacific Standard Time!!!  Once our contest photo is posted on Facebook, you are welcome to submit your caption…but please read all the fine print first!!  By sending a caption, we assume that you have read and agree to all the contest rules in full.  Submissions will be accepted via email to kimthegeckogeek@gmail.com until 9PM PST on Sunday, July 7th.  Any submissions received after that time will not be considered for this contest.  Contestants must include their first & last name along with their caption submission.  Entries sent without contestant’s first & last name will be disqualified from the contest.  I will post the top 10 caption submissions to our Facebook Page at 11PM PST on Sunday, July 7^th 2013, at which time voting will be open to the public.  I will post the captions only – the names of the contestants will remain private.  You may vote for your own entry, and as many other entries as you like as well…but please, only one vote per entry per person.  To vote for an entry, simply “like” it by clicking the “like” button on Facebook.  The caption entry with the most “likes” at the end of the contest wins.  Voting will end on Saturday, July 13^th 2013 at 9PM PST.  ”Likes” received after this time will not be counted.

So, here’s the prize breakdown:

Grand Prize:  FREE GECKO (winner may select any one (1) of the gecko babies pictured below)

First Prize: $50 gift certificate to thegeckogeek.com

Second Prize: $25 gift certificate to thegeckogeek.com

All other top 10 caption submissions will receive a $10 gift certificate to thegeckogeek.com

And now, for all the fine print:

*Grand prize winner agrees to pay shipping charges for the prize gecko.  Because the safety of our animals always comes first, winner acknowledges that prize gecko may be held by The Gecko Geek due to unsafe shipping weather, for as long as it takes until weather is deemed suitable for shipping.  Winner also agrees that an adult will be present to sign for the package on the first delivery attempt.

*This contest is open to all ages, however those contestants who are under the age of 18 MUST have parent/guardian permission PRIOR to entering the contest.  By entering the contest, contestant agrees that parent/guardian permission has been granted.  In the event that a minor is awarded the Grand Prize position & parent/guardian permission has not been given to receive the prize gecko, the entry will be disqualified & the prize gecko will be awarded to the First Place position.

*In the event of a tie for the Grand Prize position, a tie breaker contest will be run to determine the Grand Prize winner.  First Prize position will be granted to the other party.

*In the event of a tie for the First or Second Prize positions, both parties will receive a gift certificate for the full prize amount.

*In the event that the Grand Prize winner is unable to accept the prize gecko, a gift certificate in the amount of $50 will instead be awarded & the prize gecko will be offered to the winner of the First Prize position in place of their gift certificate.

*Contestants may enter a total of one caption.  If multiple caption entries are received from a single contestant, only the first caption sent (determined by the time/date stamp on the email) will be entered into the contest.  All other entries will be discarded.  If it is discovered that a contestant has submitted multiple entries under fictitious names and/or multiple email accounts, ALL of contestant’s entries will be disqualified, and contestant will not be allowed to participate in the contest.  I mean…come on people…there will be 10 winners… isn’t that enough!?!?

*Prize gecko must be selected from one of the two animals pictured below & cannot be “swapped” out with another animal on our available page.

*Gift certificates awarded as prizes will be issued via email.  These gift certificates have no real cash value (you can’t trade it in for actual cash or a transfer via PayPal).  Gift certificates have no expiration date, and can be used towards the purchase of any available animal.  If gift certificate value exceeds the price of the animal, the price difference will be reflected in the form of a store credit – change in the form of actual cash or transfer via PayPal will not be issued.

*By submitting a caption to be entered into the contest, contestant gives permission to The Gecko Geek to publically post said caption on Facebook.

*Caption must be contestant’s original material.  Any caption discovered to be plagiarized will be immediately disqualified and contestant will no longer be allowed to participate in the contest.
