Its Contest Time!!!!

We have just hit 100 “likes” on our Facebook page!!!  In celebration, we thought it might be fun to run a little contest.  We won’t keep you in suspense…Grand Prize is a FREE gecko!!!

THIS CONTEST HAS ENDED!! THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED!  PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK BACK ON THIS SITE AND TO FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM TO STAY UP-TO-DATE ON ALL OF OUR CONTESTS, SALES, AND AVAILABILITY! THANKS!!

So, what is this contest, how does it all work, and who pray tell is this amazing free gecko?  Well, I’m glad you asked!  I’ve thought long & hard about this, trying to come up with something fun that everyone can enjoy, and I think I’ve hit the nail right on the head.  I thought, besides our fabulous geckos, what is The Gecko Geek most known for?  I’m going to go out on a limb & guess that it’s our gecko’s names!!  With “I’ll Be Your Huckleberry”, “Pretty On The Inside”, “Hellogoodbye”, “What Willis Was Talkin’ ‘Bout”, and oh so many more, I think its safe to say that we think outside the box when it come to giving titles to our crew.  As it turns out, there’s a whole boat load of babes residing here now who are, at this point in time, NAMELESS!!!  For shame!!  So, I can’t think of a better way to correct that situation than to have a “Name That Gecko Contest”!!!

Its simple, really.  There are 3 geckos pictured below, all of whom are currently without a name.  Your challenge, contestants, should you choose to accept, is to name those geckos!

You may submit 3 names total, one for each nameless gecko babe.  That’s 3 chances to win!!  Only one name submission per gecko per contestant, please.

Name submissions should be sent to kimthegeckogeek@gmail.com to be considered.  Please type “Name That Gecko Contest” in the subject line of your email.  Please do not post name submissions on Facebook (there’s a reason for this which will be explained later). Only name submissions received to the email address kimthegeckogeek@gmail.com will be entered into the contest.  Don’t forget to include your first & last name along with your submission.  Remember…only one name submission per gecko per contestant.  Entries sent without contestant’s first and last name will be disqualified.

I know often times we give our geckos painfully long race horse-type names…but this is not a requirement.  The name/s you submit may be several words, a whole phrase, or a single word….that’s entirely up to you.  If you like, you may also include a short explanation as to why you selected the name/s.  This is not a requirement of the contest, but it certainly won’t hurt your chances.  Names submitted with an explanation will be given just as much consideration as those without, so please don’t feel obligated to do so.

We’re going to play this a little bit like all those reality singing competitions on t.v.  I am going to personally choose my top 10 name submissions.  Those 10 names will be posted on our Facebook Page.  Then its up to all of you to select the winner!  The name with the most “likes” at the end of the contest will be declared the Grand Prize Winner, and will be awarded their choice of any 1 of the 3 gecko babies!  Runner’s up will receive gift certificates to thegeckogeek.com!

The contest starts NOW!!!  Start sending in those name submissions (but please read all of our fine print first!!) to be considered!  Submissions will be accepted via email to kimthegeckogeek@gmail.com until 9PM PST on December 15th, 2012.  Any submissions received after that time will not be considered for this contest.  Contestants must include their first & last name along with their name submission.  Entries sent without contestant’s first & last name will be disqualified from the contest.  I will post the top 10 name submissions to our Facebook Page at 11PM PST on December 15th, 2012, at which time voting will be open to the public.  I will post the gecko names only – the names of the contestants will remain private.  You may vote for your own entry, and as many other entries as you like as well…but please, only one vote per entry per person.  To vote for an entry, simply “like” it by clicking the “like” button on Facebook.  The name entry with the most “likes” at the end of the contest wins.  Voting will end on Saturday, December 22nd, 2012 at 9PM PST.  “Likes” received after this time will not be counted.

So, here’s the prize breakdown:

Grand Prize:  FREE GECKO (winner may select any one (1) of the gecko babies pictured below)

First Prize: $50 gift certificate to thegeckogeek.com

Second Prize: $25 gift certificate to thegeckogeek.com

All other top 10 name submissions will receive a $10 gift certificate to thegeckogeek.com

Because you may enter up to 3 times (one name per gecko), there is a chance that you could win more than once!!!  How do you like them apples?!?

And now, for all the fine print:

*Grand prize winner agrees to pay shipping charges for the prize gecko.  Because the safety of our animals always comes first, winner acknowledges that prize gecko may be held by The Gecko Geek due to unsafe shipping weather, for as long as it takes until weather is deemed suitable for shipping.  Winner also agrees that an adult will be present to sign for the package on the first delivery attempt.

*This contest is open to all ages, however those contestants who are under the age of 18 MUST have parent/guardian permission PRIOR to entering the contest.  By entering the contest, contestant agrees that parent/guardian permission has been granted.  In the event that a minor is awarded the Grand Prize position & parent/guardian permission has not been given to receive the prize gecko, the entry will be disqualified & the prize gecko will be awarded to the First Place position.

*In the event of a tie for the Grand Prize position, a tie breaker contest will be run to determine the Grand Prize winner.  First Prize position will be granted to the other party.

*In the event of a tie for the First or Second Prize positions, both parties will receive a gift certificate for the full prize amount.

*In the event that the Grand Prize winner is unable to accept the prize gecko, a gift certificate in the amount of $50 will instead be awarded & the prize gecko will be offered to the winner of the First Prize position in place of their gift certificate.

*Contestants may enter a total of 3 names, one for each of the geckos pictured below.  So that’s 3 chances to win.  If more than one name submission is selected into the top ten from a single contestant, contestant will be awarded the appropriate prizes for each name submission at the end of the contest.

*Prize gecko must be selected from one of the three animals pictured below & cannot be “swapped” out with another animal on our available page.

*If it is discovered that a contestant has submitted multiple entries (beyond the 3 allowed) under fictitious names and/or multiple email accounts, etc, ALL of contestant’s entries will be disqualified, and contestant will not be allowed to participate in the contest.  I mean…come on people…there will be 10 winners…and you have up to three chances to win…isn’t that enough!?!?

*Gift certificates awarded as prizes will be issued via email.  These gift certificates have no real cash value (you can’t trade it in for actual cash or a transfer via PayPal).  Gift certificates have no expiration date, and can be used towards the purchase of any available animal.  If gift certificate value exceeds the price of the animal, the price difference will be reflected in the form of a store credit – change in the form of actual cash or transfer via PayPal will not be issued.

Please note that there are 2 pictures of each of the geckos posted, so a total of 6 pictures will appear below.  For each of the contest geckos, you will see a short written description followed by two pictures of the gecko.

If you have any questions regarding our contest, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Above all else, please have fun!

Now, let’s meet our sweet little nameless geckos!:

Baby #1 – This amazing little creature is from one of our favorite lines – The Dirties!!  Geckos from this group have a lot of color & a lot of spotting.  I’m not 100% sure where the base color is going to land on this baby.  Siblings have turned out either red or chocolate.  I’m leaning red for this kid…already seeing lots of rosy undertones!

Baby #2 – This amazing gecko is from our Super Dalmatian lines.  At just a few grams, look at how many spots this kid is already sporting!  Oh, and there’s so many more just waiting to pop up!!!  This gecko is going to be an absolute knock out, just you wait & see!!!!  Mom & Dad are both orange, so there’s a chance that there’s a color change coming up in this kid’s future.

Baby #3 – This fabulous little gecko is from my favorite pairing from the 2012 season – Fat Melvin x Hellogoodbye.  From this pair I’ve seen fantastic contrast, gorgeous structure, and scrumptously wide dorsals.  Older siblings have gained a ton of cream & white coloration with age.  This little one is off to a really great start!  There’s lots of great pattern, a nice amount of white & cream speckling already, and I have a very good feeling that the color on that super wide dorsal strap is going to fill out.  With that super dark base and the cream that comes in on the dorsal, babies from this line grow up to look like little skunks!!

And that does it, folks!!  Happy contesting!!
